Auckland

Welcome

Anyone is welcome to come to an Auckland Branch meeting, run or event. Come along and see if the military vehicle interest is for you. It is not necessary to own a vehicle to participate. Our Area Rep, Mike Beck, is the first point of contact.

Meetings

The Branch calendar is anchored by monthly a regular social and business meeting held on the first Monday of the month at Pt Chev RSA. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Public Displays and Parades

There are regular public displays, in support of other organisations. These include ANZAC Day parades, Warbirds open days, and Armistice in Cambridge.

Local Runs

We organise runs on local roads to points of interest around Auckland.

Off-road Runs

Most MV’s are 4wd. We put that to the test on farm and forest runs.

Long-distance convoys

Auckland members are part of the team that organise the unique biannual military vehicle convoys that traverse special areas of the country.

Comms

Auckland Branch comms are distributed as required via the “TRACKWARP” email. Find out more about events that are coming up and how things went with those events that have just been completed. Anyone is welcome to receive this by enlisting [here]

Mike Beck

Mike and Alethea

A mechanical engineer by trade, Mike has an eye for the offbeat and quirky machinery. He is firmly focussed on his end goal of owning a GMC (the most beautiful MV of WWII) but in the meantime he has restored his beloved Morris Minor. It is only a few shades off military green.

Mike has been a keen volunteer at MOTAT military section for many years, working on the preservation of transport history in a museum environment. One of the most public facing roles is working with night displays of the WWII searchlight in Auckland.

Mike is renowned in Auckland Branch for his side interest in Towmotor forklifts and Clark tugs – Enabled by his patient partner Alethea. Go Mike! He also relates well to vintage machinery groups who have some overlap with our hobby.

Outside of the Military Vehicle hobby Mike is an Engineering Manager at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in Auckland.

If you have any questions relating to Auckland Branch or the wider NZMVC, then Mike is the man to contact.
